Free immunizations Saturday

The Coconino County Public Health Services District (CCPHSD) and Native Americans for Community Action, Inc. (NACA) are sponsoring a Back to School Health Fair on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CCPHSD at 2625 N. King St. in Flagstaff. While at the health fair, families can receive the following services to help prepare their children for the coming school year:
Children's immunizations required for school entry will be provided at no cost. All CDC recommended vaccines will be offered and insurance will be billed if applicable. Please bring immunization records.
Free services Saturday include -
Free dental screenings for children ages five through 18 years.
Free Mountain Line Bus ride to and from event, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Let the driver know you are attending the Back to School Health Fair. Bus stops near the CCPHSD are near Seventh and Fourth streets, Route 66 and Fourth Street and at Lockett Road and King Street.

Free booster seat to booster-age eligible children, while supplies last.

Birth certificates available today
Birth certificates will be available through the Coconino County Public Health Services District. Their staff now travels to: Tuba City, Page, and Leupp to offer the service outside of their regular Flagstaff Office hours.
Staff visits Tuba City 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (local time) the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Coconino Country District 5 Supervisors Office, 49 Maple St., one street west of Tuba City Regional Health Care Center. A Navajo translator is available. Staff will be in Tuba City today.
Staff visits Page every second Wednesday of the month 10 a.m.-2 p.m. MST at the Coconino County Health Department, Northern Region Office, 467 Vista Ave. Staff will be in Page on Aug. 8.
Staff visits Leupp Chapter house the first Thursday of the month 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (local time). Staff will be at Leupp tomorrow.

Register at Northern AZ Academy
Northern Arizona Academy (NAA) is currently enrolling students in grades 9-12 for the upcoming school year. NAA is a charter high school located in Winslow, and provides an alternative path to earning your high school diploma. NAA is accredited through North Central Association, and has been serving students in the Winslow, Holbrook, and Navajo Reservation areas for 17 years. Transportation is provided. Financial seminars available
The Navajo Nation Department of Retirement Services along with Wells Fargo Retirement Plan Services will be hosting a 401(k) Financial Health Seminar Workshop at the following locations -
Today, Junction Restaurant, C Area in Chinle, Ariz.
Tomorrow, Kayenta Township Townhall in Kayenta, Ariz.
Friday, Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites in Tuba City, Ariz.

Greyhills Academy accepting students
Greyhills Academy High School is now accepting students for the 2012-2013 school year. Classes begin Aug. 6. Register 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (928) 283-6271.
Model search under way
A model search is under way for the Navajo Fashion Show that will take place on Aug. 25 during the Chinle Fair. The search is open for girls ages 15-25-years-old. Experience is not necessary.
Those interested should send a letter of interest that includes age, height, weight and telephone number along with a 5X7 photograph. Mail entries to Maureen Begay, P.O. Box 2274, Chine, AZ 86503. The deadline to enter is Saturday.

Greet the Sun Saturday
Greeting the Sun Challenge 10K, 5K and two-mile run/walk will be held Saturday in Polacca, Ariz. Registration begins at 5 a.m. Pre-registration for all runners begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. at race site.
The 10K begins at 6:30 a.m., 5K at 6:45 a.m. and the two-mile run/walk begins at 7 a.m. The cost to enter is $20 for the 10K, $15 for the 5K and $10 for the two-mile run/walk.
Many awards will be presented. Dash for Cash during the 10K run. The first male and female runners to reach the one-mile marker will receive $60 each.
Volunteers are needed to assist in various aspects of this event. All volunteers will receive a 2012 commemorative T-shirt.

Hopi 5K, 10K Aug. 11
The Hopi 10K, 5K, and 2 Mile Run and Walk will be Aug. 11 in Old Oraibi, Ariz. This was formerly known as The Oraivi Footrace, but remains the same great race. All events are for runners and walkers of very ability.
The 5K and 2 mile will begin together at 6 a.m. with the 10K following at 6:35 a.m. Awards to the top three overall female and male runners in the 10K and 5K and age categories. A veteran award will be given to the first female and male veteran to cross the finish line. A free One-Half Mile kids dash limited to 40 will be offered on the day of the race. All official registered runners will receive a race goody bag and Dri-Fit Shirt.

Celebrate Breastfeeding Month
August is National Breastfeeding Month and this year the theme is: "Understanding the Past - Planning our Future." The Navajo Nation Breastfeeding Coalition is hosting a Breastfeeding Celebration. The celebration will include a 5k run, the annual fun walk, health fair, baby expo, Child Find screenings, nutrition/cooking demonstrations, music, games, and many more activities to promote and support breastfeeding in our community.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 10 and will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Northern Arizona College Resource Center offers helpful classes The Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC) is offering classes throughout the summer. The classes will be held at NACRC, 1000 N. Turquoise Dr.
An SAT/ACT workshop will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 9. Learn the basics of financial aid 3:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
Learn what to look for in a school 6-7 p.m. Aug. 22. Learn what to think about when choosing a school and how to search for schools that offer everything you want.
Scholarships is the topic of a workshop that will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 28.
