Register now for Navajo Nation Police Heroes' Run

The First Annual Navajo Nation Police Heroes' Run will be held June 23 in Tuba City. The 10K run and 5K run/walk are in memory of fallen police officers that died in the line of duty. All proceeds will benefit the Navajo Nation Police Survivors Program.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. (DST) at the Tuba City Police Department. The race begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $25 for the 10K run and $20 for the 5K run/walk. T-shirts will be given to all registered participants. There will be age group awards. A course map will be provided the day of the race.

Free sports camp June 7-9

Tuba City High School is hosting the 16th Annual Native Vision Sports and Life Skills Camp, June 7-9. Up to 60 professional and college athletes will instruct in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, running, and lacrosse.

Resource center offers helpful, free classes

The Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC) is offering classes throughout the summer. The classes will be held at NACRC, 1000 N. Turquoise Dr.

Learn how to write a cover letter 6-7 p.m. June 6. The Flagstaff Teen Employment Corps will be putting on this workshop and it will be tailored to young adults.

Greeting the Sun Challenge Aug. 4

Greeting the Sun Challenge 10K, 5K and two mile run/walk will be held Aug. 4 in Polacca, Ariz. Registration begins at 5 a.m.

The 10K begins at 6:30 a.m., 5K at 6:45 a.m. and the two mile run/walk begins at 7 a.m. The cost to enter is $20 for the 10K, $15 for the 5K and $10 for the two mile run/walk.

Many awards will be presented. Dash for Cash during the 10K run. The first male and female runners to reach the one mile marker will receive $60 each.

Flagstaff roadshow

The city of Flagstaff's Recreation Services is offering a free tour of the city's park system, while combining great music, activities for children and vendors. The fun will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in June and July.

Northern Arizona Kidney Walk Sunday

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Arizona will host its first ever Northern Arizona Kidney Walk to raises funds and awareness for the deadly disease affecting thousands of northern Arizona residents.

The walk will be held Sunday at Sinagua Middle School, 3050 E. Butler Ave. Register 7-8:30 a.m. The walk begins at 9 a.m.

The NKF of Arizona's Northern Arizona Kidney Walk is a non-competitive 5k walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney disease. The event will also feature a free kidney health risk assessment questionnaire for participants, their families and friends.

The NKF is a non-profit organization, which helps to raise funds to help dialysis patients in need pay for their treatments. NKF also raises awareness for organ donation, kidney health and patient advocacy.

Tse Sianni Church hosting meeting

Boys and Girls Club is offering a summer program for youth 6-18-years-old. The program will be offered 10 a.m.-5:15 p.m. (DST) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday June 4-Aug. 3.

National Trails Day Day June 9

Celebrate National Trails Day June 9 by participating in the Pine Cone Dash. The Pine Cone Dash is a 5K run/walk on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. Good Road of Life Native Families June 13-15

The Good Road of Life Native Families will be offered 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m. June 13-15 at the Moenkopi Legacy Inn Conference Center in Tuba City.

Native Families is a three day journey towards wellness and healing for Native men and their family members. It is the second part to the Good Road of Life: Responsible Fatherhood series. It is designed to teach Native men, women and their children how to strengthen the family relationships and keep Native families together.

Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. Participants must be committed to all three days of training to obtain a certificate.

Kayenta Fourth of July Music Festival

The township of Kayenta is hosting the First Annual Kayenta Fourth of July Music Festival. The festival is free and begins at 12 p.m. at the Kayenta Recreation Park.

Planned Parenthood offers free pregnancy test

Planned Parenthood Arizona's Flagstaff Health Center will be offering half-priced exams and free pregnancy testing June 1-Aug. 31.

The exams for both men and women are an important part of residents staying healthy, and there is no better time to focus on health than in the summer. Along with reproductive exams Planned Parenthood provides a full spectrum of reproductive health care - STD testing and treatment, birth control, condoms, information and counseling.

This summer, Flagstaff Health Center is also providing free pregnancy testing to women in the community.

"We are proud to provide free pregnancy testing to women in the community," said Candace Ryan-Schmid, the center's manager, "We want to be there for women for their reproductive health, throughout their lives."

Planned Parenthood Arizona wants to help keep the men and women of the Flagstaff community healthy and happy by providing them with expert testing and exams that they could not otherwise may not be able to afford.

Birth certificates available June 6

Birth certificates are available in Tuba City 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (DST) June 6 at Coconino County Supervisor Lena Fowler's office, 49 Maple St., behind the Behavioral Health building, one street west of Main Street.

Birth certificates are available every first and third Wednesday of the month. Birth certificates are also available in Page 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (local Page time) every second Wednesday of the month. The fee is $19, cash only. Certain requirements and exceptions apply. The service is sponsored by Fowler and the Coconino County Public Health Services District.

Your locks wanted during Hair Stock June 24

The Third Annual Hair Stock returns June 24 to the Orpheum Theater in downtown Flagstaff. Hair Stock will be held 2-6 p.m.

Watch and support friends and family as their hair is clipped for a cure for cancer. Activities will include a silent auction, children's activities and food. Proceeds and hair will benefit northern Arizona cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy through Pantene Beautiful Lengths and Locks of Love.

Honoring Camp Navajo Past and Present will be celebrated during the Fourth Annual Gourd Dancing 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. June 23 at Camp Navajo.

Amp Navajo is located at Bellemont 15 miles west of Flagstaff off Interstate 40.

Master of Ceremony is Dennis Bedonie; Head Gourd Dancer is Larry Anderson; Head Southern Drum is Long Walk Descendence; and Head Singer Mike Croan. All gourd dancers and the public are welcome. There will be no vending.
